Interesting topic, In many hilly regions like Himachal Pradesh, rock salt (sendha namak) is cherished not just for its taste, but its perceived healing benefits supporting digestion, skin health, and hydration. It’s also seen as more “natural” than processed table salt. However, modern studies remind us that rock salt still behaves like regular sodium chloride. It lacks iodine, which can increase the risk of thyroid problems if used exclusively. Also, when consumed in excess, it can lead to the same health risks as regular salt like high blood pressure and dehydration.
