Food Wrapped in Newspaper Harmless or Hazardous?
Street food, snacks, and even takeaways are being sold wrapped in newspapers in most places. But do you know that this very common practice is actually risky?
Poisonous inks – Printing ink has toxic chemicals such as lead, cadmium, and aromatic hydrocarbons. These can seep into oily, moist, or hot food.
Health hazards – Chronic contact can cause stomach problems, hormonal imbalance, and even cancer risk.
Sanitation issue – Used papers can have dust, germs, and dirt particles.
That crispy samosa or pakora in a newspaper wrapper might be transporting more than flavor!
Safer options: Food paper, banana leaves, reusable containers, or clean butter paper.
Did you ever realize your favorite street food still arrives in newspaper wraps? Would you stop eating it if you knew the danger?
