National Pet Day- April 11

April 11, National Pet Day is dedicated to animals for bringing joy and making our lives better. People may have pet of one or many kinds, and it is not restricted to dogs and cats. It is nothing short of a miracle how two different species love each other and consider them to be a part of their home.

Some pets and their impacts on our happiness, apart from being wonderful stress busters are listed below:

DOGS

  • Physically active**: When we take dogs for a walk, we can easily meet our daily step goals resulting in better heart and mental health.
  • Better Immunity: Children who have early dog exposure tend to develop stronger immunity and lesser allergies later on in their lives.

CATS

  • Low maintenance roommate: Cats are very independent and can easily adjust in small spaces, making it a very easy to handle pet.
  • Lowers Blood Pressure: Cat purrs have a frequency of 20- 140 Hz, which can calm human mind and can help in bone and tissue healing faster.

FISHES

  • Lowers Anxiety: Watching a fish move for sometime is like meditation. It lowers hearth rate, improves breathing pattern and gives better mental clarity.
  • Easy routine: The largest responsibility in having a fish as a pet is the timely cleansing of the fish tank, which can easily be done in regular intervals.

BIRDS

  • Space efficiency: They can easily be kept in small balconies and rooms and their maintenance is also very low.
  • Long Lasting: Some birds like parrots can live up to 80 years, making it a perfect companion for a lifetime. Moreover, they carry a very entertaining personality as well.

Very true.

That’s so lovely

That’s amazing.

I have a pet dog myself and spending time with my dog is the best thing in the world.

Having pets teaches you so much! Responsibility, love, care and the bonding which is special and pure.

It’s good to consider adopting a pet because they also deserve a loving and caring home.

I have always had pets growing up, and now, as a veterinarian, I get to be a part of the lives of so many pet parents.
