My Internship Journey in Clinical Research

Internships are often the turning point for pharmacy students, providing real-world exposure beyond textbooks. During my internship, I had the opportunity to work on a Phase I bioequivalence study, where I gained hands-on experience in protocol adherence, source data verification, and patient safety monitoring. This experience gave me an in-depth understanding of how theory translates into practice and helped me build confidence in handling real clinical research operations. It was challenging at times, but every day brought valuable learning.

How has your internship shaped your understanding of the pharmaceutical or clinical research industry?

Would you mind sharing the company you interned for and Do you think clinical research is a good Career option in India? Kindly share your thoughts. Thankyou for shading.

I did my internship at Scitus Pharma, which focuses on clinical research and bioequivalence studies.

Regarding clinical research as a career in India: I think it can be a very good career option for the right candidate. The industry is growing rapidly, with increasing demand for clinical trials, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, and data management. It offers exposure to global standards (like ICH-GCP guidelines), opportunities for learning, and potential for international career growth.

That said, it requires attention to detail, strong documentation skills, and adherence to protocols. The work can be challenging but rewarding, especially if you enjoy research, patient safety, and contributing to the development of new medicines.

My internship gave me practical exposure to real-world practices, helping me understand how theoretical knowledge is applied in the retail pharmacy . It improved my skills in patient care, data handling, and teamwork, while also showing me the importance of ethics and accuracy in healthcare.

Some real exposure will surely help in the future

Yes, an internship provides practical knowledge about things that we only read about theoretically.
