Scare the patient. I know this may sound absurd, especially coming from a pharmacist, but I have observed that some patients demonstrate better adherence when they are frightened. Inform them about the potential higher costs if they don’t take responsibility for their health. I understand this may seem unethical, but it is effective. Ultimately, you are ensuring that the patient receives optimal care.
