We’re taught to protect patient confidentiality no matter what. It’s one of the basics.
But what if a patient tells you something that could put someone else at risk, and asks you not to share it?
Do you stay silent and respect their trust, or do you step in knowing it might prevent harm?
It’s not as simple as it sounds. One choice protects trust, the other might protect lives.
