MD in Anatomy and other pre clinical subjects

Is MD Anatomy undervalued in the medical community?

First of all, I thought we are awarded MS in Anatomy, and not MD.
Anatomy is the opening batsman in the match of MBBs cricket match and is highly revered one. Those who know anatomy they shine, needless to say.
I think MD or MS in anatomy is a valuable asset, but since many non-MBBS too teach, this is might be looked at that way. I am not sure nowadays in medical colleges, do non MD faculty positions exist, but when I was doing MBBS, we had a mix of the faculty, and all were good. I’m talking about MGIMS, Sewagram.

Technically, both degrees exist in India. MD in Anatomy is more commonly awarded nowadays.
You are right, earlier non-MBBS (MSc/PhD)
have held teaching positions in pre clinical subjects. That was mainly due to the lack of Post graduates then.
Now the scenario is changing fresh MBBS graduates are opting for pre-clinical subjects. This is primarily due to the excellent work-life balance the subject has to offer along with other opportunities.

I concur with you. And given the fact that medical education has a lot of space in emerging India, non clinical subjects too will find their own place. Also, research is also gaining traction in India and it applies to all the fields of medical sciences.
