MBBS; Medical vs Others

Should there be reservation in medical field?
Especially in NEET UG/PG
Given that doctors deal with human life

Not in the PG at least, I am of this opinion.

There should be no reservation in any field. Instead of giving reservation, it’s better to maybe provide free education and preparation for exams.

I was a person who strongly disagreed in reservations in medical field and any competitive exams. But after a brief outreach program in the exclusive tribal areas in north Kerala I realised , it is necessary for people from different communities to come to the front area of the public. It was important for those communities to have somebody whom they can trust in every field .. Reservations works to uplift those downtrodden groups. It was a sad realisation for a person from general category .. But it is a necessary evil.

But instead of reservations it is better for government to provide financial and educational assistance
And it should be revised atleast every few years to ensure people who dont deserve reservation arent benifiting from it

For PG there are steps going on to bring down reservation in the courts.
But for UG this gonna take hell of a time.

Coming from a gov medical college, I have seen ST, PWD seats vacant even after very low cut offs because these communities are so marginalised they aren’t even aware about these benefits.

Yes there are people who are well of and get undue advantage of these reservations, but there’s a greater chunk who still needs extra support. So during UG, I feel reservation is somewhat justified ( Yes! There are lot of loopholes that should be looked after)

But in pg, I feel instead of reservation, gov can focus on scholarship for those who might have to pursue pgs from private colleges and come from weak economic class.
