Calling the situation “dehumanizing,” the court questioned how people seeking psychiatric care could be subjected to such neglect and indignity while directing authorities to take immediate corrective action.
The case has once again ignited conversations about India’s mental healthcare system, raising uncomfortable questions about whether psychiatric facilities are equipped to offer care, dignity, and rehabilitation to some of the country’s most vulnerable individuals.
