Laser - Harmless Light? Think Again.

Lasers are part of our everyday lives from cosmetic treatments to simple laser pointers. Because they’re so common, we rarely think twice about them.

But when it comes to the eye, even this “harmless light” can be dangerous.

The eye is designed to focus light sharply onto the retina. When a laser beam enters, it gets highly concentrated on a tiny area, increasing its intensity many times. This makes the retina extremely vulnerable, even to brief exposure. A quick glance at a laser pointer or a reflected beam can lead to blurred vision, blind spots, or, in severe cases, permanent damage.

What makes it more concerning is that retinal injury may occur without immediate pain, so the damage often goes unnoticed until vision problems appear. Daily habits like casually pointing lasers, lack of eye protection during cosmetic procedures, or accidental exposure can silently put our vision at risk.

So, harmless light? Not really. For the eye, even a small beam can have big consequences.
