Justice at stake: rape-case accused, released on bail, shoots the victim in Delhi
On July 30 2025, rape survivor (manager of a salon, Vasant Vihar, Delhi) was waylaid inside an autorickshaw by two guys on a black motorcycle. One pulled out a gun and fired at her chest. Abuzair Safi (30), the very suspect she had last year accused of rape, who had been granted interim bail just a few weeks ago. She is now stabilized at AIIMS Trauma Centre. Safi and his co-accused Aman Sukhla were arrested by the police within 48 hours; the gun and the bike were confiscated. FIRs are for attempted murder (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita §109 (1)), common intention (§3 (5)) and Arms Act crimes.
Why this case matters
1. Bail ≠ safety – Survivors are at risk when violent perpetrators go free on bail to await trial.
2. Systemic loopholes – Interim bail for serious sexual-violence cases requires more stringent risk evaluations and electronic tracking.
3. Survivor protection – Police and courts need to synchronize restraining orders, safe accommodation, and rapid-response hotlines.
4. Public vigilance Communities and bystanders have a role in reporting witness intimidation or complainant stalking
Absolutely. It’s honestly heartbreaking and frustrating. How can someone who brutally traumatized a girl even get bail? What kind of justice is that? People always say that laws favour women, but then why are so many rape cases happening every single day? And even when a girl bravely reports it, most of the time the accused is just roaming free, sometimes even repeating the crime. The worst part is, society still blames the girl. Instead of standing by her, they treat her like she did something wrong. That’s why so many cases never even come out because victims are scared of how society will judge them.
Our system seriously needs change. Because justice isn’t just about punishing the guilty, it’s about protecting the innocent too.
This case is very sad and serious. The girl already suffered once, and now she was attacked again by the same person. Bail should not be given so easily in rape cases. Police and court must protect victims better and use tracking systems. we should support mental health care and speak up for justice.
This is simply heartbreaking. Our government needs stricter punishments for those involved in such inhumane acts. Once a perpetrator has been proven guilty they must serve a sentence along with personal caveats that ensure everyone else’s safety when they are reintegrated into society.
Ridiculous our juridical system should take an firm action against it and should punish in presence of public procecution of such inhumane activity doer that none other should dare to such later.
