We all have seen the three lights of a traffic signal. Two lights that irritate us (obviously the red and yellow ones) and another one that allows us to rush towards our way. But the stop and go slow lights do serve a purpose, apart from controlling the traffic. The red and yellow lights allow us to stop and breathe a little!
Life is a race?:
Life is not a race but a moving traffic, where we are all trying to rush somewhere in an attempt to reach our destinations. But how often do we really stop, relax and breathe? According to the traffic laws, we get charged for not obeying the red and yellow signals. But in real life, we are probably being charged in terms of stress for always rushing our vehicles i.e. our bodies. Always trying to multitask, always trying to do anything as quickly as possible is becoming the new norm. Growing up quickly, finishing studies as early as possible, earning money ASAP and then retiring quickly are the thoughts that keep crossing our minds. We are all in a hurry to do things, as if we don’t hurry, we will miss out on something or the other.
Rushing = success?:
We explain always rushing or being in a hurry, being impatient as being ambitious. Ambition is no doubt necessary for being successful and surviving in this world. But a little relaxation does not stop us from being successful. Instead it can help us cope up with the stress that is blocking our way. Medically speaking, relaxation improves concentration, increases blood flow, lessens anger and frustration, improves emotional well-being and much more.
Now, not all of us can afford an actual vacation to a serene place. But we can find relaxation in many other ways. For some of us, an Instagram reel or maybe a three hour long movie will help as a stress buster. For some, tuning in to some good music will help find sanity. While for others, a good read will do the same. For a few of us, meditation, yoga or pranayama will be a good breather.
So whatever be the means, do find some time to STOP-BREATHE and then GO.
What are some ways to find time and breathe a little according to you?
