Most of our non- dominant hand is the left one and doing some chore with left hand alone becomes tiring in just mere seconds. Soon after that, you feel some changes in your mind and body. So, the easiest way to give your brain a small workout is to use your non- dominant hand more by using it for brushing, opening the door etc.
Here are some benefits of brushing with your left (non- dominant) hand:
-
New Neural Pathways: New connections between neurons are stimulated, leading to improved cognitive ability.
-
Improved Mindfulness: Extra effort is put in while brushing with left hand, making us focus on the present moment.
-
Increased Concentration: As it is feels very uncoordinated, we concentrate more to the movement and the pressure applied.
-
Softer on the Gums: Due to increased caution, gums receive a gentle stroke and prevent receding gums eventually.
-
New spots get cleaned: With repeated strokes, only the usual spots get thorough cleaning regularly, so by reversing the motion, we can clean the blind spots as well.
-
Better Control: By practicing more, we get better motor control and muscle memory, which can be of use when we least expect it.
