India’s next pharmaceutical revolution

Last month, an Indian pharmaceutical company accomplished something unbelievable. Wockhardt became the first Indian company to win approval from the US Food and Drug Administration for a new chemical entity which is intravenous antibiotic, Zaynich. It is a combination of cefepime and the novel agent zidebactam. AMR is real and the whole world is facing it. So now there comes a light at the Zaynich. It will be used for urinary tract infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria, among the most difficult pathogens to treat because of resistance. Treatment success rate of 89% compared with 68% for meropenem. Most of the world’s large pharmaceutical companies are not making antibiotics because it is now too costly as the rising rate of AMR.

By looking at this, we can say that Indian company is rising and taking part un riskiest part of it.

What do you think about this step will be leading Indian pharmaceutical companies in upcoming ages?
