Do you think cadaveric dissections are important for learning anatomy?
Can they be replaced by various model based apps available nowadays?
Cadaver dissection is important and I believe doing it the conventional way has its own value.
Not sure how it is done nowadays in Indian medical schools?
Cadavers are not replaceable
Yup the conventional methods are used. Dissection Halls are the most exciting place to practice in First year of MedSchool!
They actually help you understand the human anatomy more easily.
They make anatomy very clear and interesting..also it builds a photographic memory in doctors for lifetime.
Cadaveric dissections are extremely important since they give exposure to actual human body.
While online apps are really good in understanding human anatomy they show the most ideal placement of the structures while the cadavers will always have some or the other variation that is commonly found in human population which often reminds us how unique our bodies are.
Cadavers are rhe first teachers and would always remain, nothing can replace them.
Cadaver dissection is very important because the students get to view the real organs/tissues, feel the structures, find the location where the organ is present in the body, etc. Now since various apps and other computer based sources has developed, students are not exposed to the real scenarios, and when they start practicing and see real patients, it’s difficult for them to correlate the system based learning and the real patient. So replacing the cadavers are not a good idea especially in medical schools.
Love to share this thought once told by my professors… Dissection hall is a place where dead teach the living.
Cadavers are irreplaceable… Learning by them is the best method till now to learn anatomy you can try various morden methods like 3d and other stuff but still the knowledge the experience gained the feeling gained from it is incomparable.
To master anatomy, you’ve got to meet the flesh in person—mannequins don’t bleed. JK
Cadavers also termed as first teacher in medical education
They are our first teachers… And they help us to understand and visualise the most beautiful and complex structure of world …our body . No model 3 d structure or anything can replace cadaver as they show the anatomy in its original form explore as much u can.
And cadavers are most important and deserves all respect.
Indeed!
