How scrolling ruins your sleep and grades

Many students including me , we sacrifice sleep for study or scrolling, ending up tired, unfocused, and stressed.

I used to pull late-night study marathons, thinking more hours = better grades. In reality, I’d read the same paragraph twice and still not retain it.
Screens keep me wired. A quick 5-minute scroll before bed often turns into an hour, and the blue light makes it harder to fall asleep.
Consequences show up the next day. I feel groggy, snap at friends, and make silly mistakes in labs or assignments.

Monkey Using a Tablet

Simple fixes that helped:

  • Set a fixed wind-down time (no screens 30 minutes before bed).
  • Keep phone outside reach or on Do Not Disturb.
  • Use a short evening routine: light stretch, quick journal, then lights out.
  • Protect 7–8 hours as non-negotiable, even during exams.

Sleep isn’t wasted time—it’s when the brain consolidates learning. What’s one habit you can change tonight to sleep better?
