I have struggled with sensitive, extremely dry allergic skin for years. The constant itching, redness, dryness and flare-ups were more than just frustrating- they greatly affected my everyday life and confidence. I tried numerous products, but many of them simply made the condition worse- causing more stinging, redness and flare-ups. There were days I cried looking at my skin!
After testing countless different products and consulting with dermatologists, I discovered that using ceramide based products- specifically a cleanser and a moisturiser changed the way my skin felt and looked.
So what are ceramides?
Ceramides are natural lipids in our skin that help form a strong skin barrier and retain moisture. People with dry skin conditions often have a compromised skin barrier. According to research, The damaged skin barrier in eczema patients may be attributed to decreased levels of ceramides in their skin.
After switching to ceramide-based products:
• My redness and irritation calmed down
• The dryness and tightness disappeared
• My skin felt hydrated and soothed.
Although it wasn’t a medication, it worked like one and aided in the recovery of my skin. And the good thing about ceramides? It is generally considered suitable for all skin types. So I highly recommend incorporating ceramide based products into your skincare routine if you are a sufferer of allergic and dry skin like me. The products I use are from CeraVe.
Do you also have any skincare recommendations that worked for you like mine? Lets share🤗

This is just my personal experience. Please consult a dermatologist before trying anything new.

True
Consulting a doctor is very much appreciated
But being from medical background, I think we all have it in us to try and test on ourselves
After I learned dermatology in my final year , trust me I started trying out products on my own
Like I had acne and I had consulted dermatologist for it
But it didn’t work and then I just started experimenting
I tried vit C serum of various brands
Retinoid creams
Sariva manjishtha face pack
Neem face wash:joy:
It all changes after I started using ayurvedic products based on my prakriti.
Sometimes all it takes is what u know about your skin and how diff products work on it!

One such ingredient that I personally love is “Hyaluronic acid”. It’s almost a year that I have been using it and I have found my skin much better, shinning, looks hydrated, and also stays plump. Currently I am using it in the form of a cleanser, as that suits me more. Various studies have talked about its benefits specifically in terms of the moisture it provides and also how it helps in cell regeneration, retains skin elasticity and most importantly protects the skin barrier.

Thank you for sharing your journey—it’s really inspiring and helpful. I’ve also faced dry and itchy skin, and I know how painful and upsetting it can be. Ceramide-based products sound like a great option, especially since they help repair the skin barrier. I’ve tried aloe vera gel and fragrance-free moisturizers, which gave some relief. Gentle cleansers and avoiding harsh soaps also helped me. Your story gives hope to many people struggling with skin issues. Let’s keep sharing and supporting each other.

Exactly, consulting a dermatologist before applying anything chemical on skin would be always ideal, especially if you are prone to allergic reactions. Thank you for sharing your experience with ceramide and I also think staying hydrated is also equally important for the overall skin health.

The quality and composition of ceramide products are highly important. Scientific studies reveal that effectively processed ceramides keep their structure in order while effectively breaking down into the skin barrier and heal the damage.

It was useful information. Yes it true before applying anything to your face you should consult the doctor. And according to me we should not apply any chemicals products without consulting doctor as your skin is sensitive.
Ceramides are not chemicals as I already mentioned in my post. Also our skin can be sensitive to natural products as well, like my skin is sensitive to aloe vera, which is purely natural. @Mahevish_Hudewale
