Heels: The fashion accessory with a hidden anatomical agenda.
They quietly redesign the human biomechanics one millimetre at a time while they promise elegance and height.
While elevation heels shifts body weight forward which increases the forefoot pressure forcing the ankle into chronic plantar flexion. So therefore the achilles tendons shorten, the calf muscles tightens and the lumbar muscle compensates with exaggerated lordosis.
Because of this style statement it will lead to metatarsalgia, knee strain and lower back discomfort.
Heels may elevate confidence and may build up fashion sense but over time it could lead to heightened risk of musculoskeletal complaints.
Beware of the beauty that comes with a cost and avoid chronic use.
