Group studies during MBBS: Does it work?

There were days when I needed ‘pin drop silence’ to grasp concepts and mug up drug names, but at the same time, there were also days when no matter how much I tried- I couldn’t focus AT ALL. On these days Group studies was my ‘go to’ to give myself a break from the solitude while still covering topics (It was a Win-Win situation  ). It was a productive activity I got to do with my Friends. We would quiz each other to revise topics, making the concepts unforgettable.
Although on most days I preferred studying alone, the group study sessions bacame a core memory of college time.

What are your experiences with group studies? Do you think it’s a good way to study?

Group studies have helped me clear doubts and stay motivated, but only when the group is focused. It’s a good way to study if everyone contributes …otherwise, it can be distracting.

Group studying only works when the thought process of the members are alike and they understand how to balance studying as well taking breaks. Smaller groups with maximum 3 or 4 people works the best in my opinion. I enjoy group studying especially during exam season when we our productivity levels decrease after a point.

Group studying doesn’t have to mean everyone is studying the same topic. Sitting together and studying different topics then explaining doubts in between works for me as well. Choose what works the best for you!

Group study can be helpful because you learn from others and stay motivated. But it can also be distracting if people don’t stay focused.

Some concepts that are not clear for us will be cleared in the group studies. Also it helps to stay motivated.

Yes it can be a win-win situation for certain subjects that require you to cram in my opinion.

Group studies do have their pros and cons and with the right mindset and people studies can rock well if you are dedicated and well suited with friends.

I personally dont opt for group studies as it ends in discussion other than the syllabus.

Group studies have distracted me more

I prefer studying alone

When in a group , it always more talks and less studying
Talks on books then it diverts most of the time
So I would rather be sitting with my coffe and books alone

For me, group study doesn’t really work. I need pin-drop silence to focus; too much noise feels distracting and unproductive. I have always preferred studying alone. But I understand that for others, group study can be fun and helpful, especially on days when focus is low. Everyone has their own style; this is just what works best for me.

Group studies might help some people but my personal opinion is self study since everyone has different pace of learning and memorizing … group studies might be pressurising for slow learners but it depends from person to person :four_leaf_clover:

Yes, during my graduation i lived with my friends. At every semester exams we studied together it helps us because we shared every single information about each subject and make it short term memory it helps us to understand fast.
