In our proud vegetarian mess at Sewagram (thanks to legacy linked to Mahatma Gandhi), egg curry was a feast that you would get once in a while. This extra sprinkle of proteins (toor daal was the staple protein source that point, this is another thing that you got to eat 4 times of carb to get 1 gram of protein) was a blessing for the growing muscles of medical students. And many of those have ventured out to different parts of India and the world to heal.

That’s a good question. When I’m away from home, I try to keep things simple. I look for balanced meals with veggies, some protein and whole grains whenever I can. If that’s tricky, I carry healthy snacks like nuts or fruits with me. Staying hydrated and not skipping meals helps a lot too.
