From Medical textbooks to real life - Community Medicine posting experience

Community medicine gives the opportunity to be in the real world and apply the knowledge gained from the medical textbooks in the society.

Be it family health surveys for detection of any diseases, visiting tin huts for checking immunisation status of children, it teaches much beyond the books- makes you humble and grounded. Spreading awareness about communicable diseases & providing practical solutions- makes you feel that this is indeed something you always wanted to do .

It also gives you the chance to give back something to society.

What is one unforgettable experience from your PSM posting?

Community Medicine truly offers a different perspective on healthcare. For me, one of the most meaningful aspects is seeing how health is influenced not only by disease but also by factors such as education, awareness, living conditions, and access to healthcare. It reminds us that medicine is ultimately about serving people where they are.
