Finding a home away from home

Student life is such a memorable phase in everyone’s lives. Learning about one’s profession, learning how to work around life, forming precious friendships, building oneself all these core events generally take place during student life. Some students have their homes and family in the same town as their educational institution, while some students move cities, states or even countries for the academics of their choice.

Living in a place away from home is an under-rated challenge. In a primitive age, before figuring out adult life, one has to start taking care of their own self. Figuring out a place to stay, food to eat, whom to trust and whom not to, learning how to manage money when you are not yet earning, it’s indeed a task. And one has to do all this while focusing on academics. There are times, when one feels like running back home.

But, day-by-day, it starts getting better. Once one makes friends, things start getting better. Sharing similar experiences and feeling that you are in the same boat as many, takes the sadness off your mind. Gradually, one finds a home! One finds a home in new friendships, in places that one sits and cries, in places where one sits and laughs, in places where the wind brings a quiet peace. Soon, one figures that these were probably the best days of their life, where they learnt, laughed, grew and lived.

So, to the people who are still finding a home away from home, stay strong- it does get better, you do get stronger!

Pursuing education in a different city away from home may initially be difficult but as time passes it will be a good experience with great learnings.

Yes, initially it feels really tough to live away from home. Everything feels new and bit overwhelming. But gradually things start to change. Once we find good friends, that place starts feeling like home.

True once we leave our city and enter new place everything becomes difficult to manage on your own but at the end of the day being independent teaches you everything. Small groups of friends become family, our second home with passing time.

The sad part is that once the student life is over, everyone gets busy with their own lives.
