These days, people are very health-conscious and stick to exercise and a diet regimen. There are various forms of exercise. The usual one seen among commoners is walking.
The younger generation is more into the gym and fitness studios. Under the guidance of fitness coaches, they adhere to a routine specifically tailored to their bodies. Most of the teenagers are very much into Zumba dance form as it is a modern dance form in which they can step up to the peppy beats of the latest movies.
Now, another trend is learning dance forms. Most of the mothers, when they let the kid join for learning dance forms, they themselves also join. This includes Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattom, and Kathak dances. These dances include very rigorous movements that serve well as exercise for the body. The advantage of this is that while exercising, you are also learning an art form. Most of them end up doing public performances also.
Swimming is the best form of exercise for kids, older adults, and physically disabled people. Swimming improves lung capacity, especially for kids who are often prone to respiratory problems like asthma. Older adults who often develop leg and knee pain due to walking can resort to swimming. Physically disabled people who cannot do other exercises can easily glide through water and benefit a lot from swimming.
Martial art forms like kung fu, karate, and kalarippayattu also serve as exercise and help in self-defence, especially for ladies.
So, a lot of options for physical fitness and exercises are left open for us. Can’t we select the one suited to our interests and tailor it to our body needs rather than remain idle in front of the mobile and television?
