Good question.

hi kumar ,

polyuria = excessive urination
polydipsia = excessive thirst
both are common symptoms in DM , DI and psychogenic polydipsia .

  1. DM - high blood glucose - osmotic diuresis - polyuria .
  2. DI - deficiency of ADH or renal resistance to ADH - inability to concentrate urine - polyuria
    3)physchogenic polydipsia - excessive voluntary water intake - polyuria .

now talh about diagnosis .
DM - serum glucose - high
DI - serum glucose - normal
PP - serum glucose - normal

DM - urine glucose - positibe
DI - negative
PP - negative

serum sodium - Dm - normal or high
DI - high
PP - low or normal

serum osmolaritu - DM - high
DI - high
PP - low

urine ormolarity - DM - high
DI - low
PP - low
