Dentistry vs MBBS: Which is tougher and why

I have heard many of my classmates suggesting bds is wayyyy tougher than mbbs as mbbs just includes theoretical pressure while ours include physical labour along with theory and we are not able to manage time along with completion of works especially just before exams. What do you guys think🤔

Both are difficult on their path. MBBS on one had deals with the whole body and has many things to be taken into consideration. BDS on the other hand has more detailed approch towards the oral cavity which is also a complex network in one sense.

As a dentist, I think MBBS definitely is tougher than BDS. An MBBS graduate should learn the basic subjects like anatomy, general medicine, general surgery in much more vastness than a BDS graduate. Though we have so much preclinics and lab work along with it, MBBS students also have rounds and other work as well.

Honestly, both are challenging in their own ways. MBBS seems tougher due to its broader scope and higher stakes decision-making. The sheer volume of medical knowledge and the pressure to make life-or-death decisions can be overwhelming. However, dentistry requires precision, manual dexterity, and attention to detail, which can be equally demanding. Ultimately, both fields require dedication and hard work, but in different ways.

Both fields are equally challenging. Hence, she should always give ourselves a pat on our back for taking up these very tough degrees

The physical work in BDS from my experience was too much. Working with plaster,Alginate etc.I would carry my heavy instrument kit along with my records from hostel to the department everyday. Even though we had locker room, there was so much more to carry and bring everyday.

In BDS, apart from theoretical pressure, the extra burden lies in searching for patients to complete the quota.
From 1st year to the final year the investment in instruments will be a waste if one switches their role to non-clinical.

BDS entails a lot of procedural skills.
It is semi- surgical or rather more surgical than a physician’s job (general doc).
