Sometimes, we all get stuck in certain phases of life. It may revolve around an important decision, and despite repeated efforts, nothing seems to work. During such times, a person starts feeling anxious and gradually becomes disconnected from oneself. It may feel as though everything is falling apart.
For instance, someone may feel dissatisfied with their current job and wish to leave in search of better growth or a higher salary. However, when no suitable opportunities are available, frustration builds up. Each day begins to feel like a burden. There is no excitement left in going to work, and the routine slowly becomes mentally exhausting. Over time, this state can lead to despair. The feeling of stagnation—of having nothing new to learn and no further growth—makes one want to leave as soon as possible. Unfortunately, this phase can last for months or even years.
In such situations, decluttering the mind becomes essential, as prolonged stress affects not only mental health but physical well-being too.
Personally, stepping out of routine helps significantly. Taking a different route to work or home, cleaning and reorganizing the room or cupboard, preparing something healthy and enjoyable to eat, exercising, or going for walks—all these small changes create a refreshing shift. Consciously deciding not to dwell on problems for a few days also helps. Doing things differently breaks the monotony and reduces tension. Practicing pranayama for at least 15 minutes has also proven to be very calming.
Everyone copes differently. What works for you?
