Only overweight people are more likely to have high cholesterol, which is a total misconception. Being young, slim, and healthy doesn’t guarantee low cholesterol—anyone can have high cholesterol regardless of lifestyle. Risk factors are:
Obesity
Age
Lack of exercise
Unhealthy Diet
Smoking
Alcohol

Apart from Sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy eating habits, positive family history and genetics can also be the potential reason.

Yes, absolutely! High cholesterol isn’t just about junk food or lack of exercise. Genetics play a big role — conditions like familial hypercholesterolemia can affect even the fittest people. Other factors include thyroid disorders, liver/kidney issues, certain medications, and even stress. So, it’s not always visible from the outside. :eyes::stethoscope:

Absolutely!! cholesterol levels aren’t just about diet and activity.
Genetics, hypothyroidism, liver or kidney conditions, and even stress can play a major role.
So yes, even thin, active individuals can have high cholesterol due to underlying metabolic or familial factors.

Yes, that’s true. There are various reasons for thin people having high cholesterol.

The reasons can be beyond diet and inactivity and include:

Genetics (Familial Hypercholesterolemia)
Hypothyroidism
Chronic stress
Certain medications (like steroids, beta-blockers)
Smoking and alcohol
Hormonal issues (like PCOS)
Age-related changes

Hence, regular cholesterol checks are important for everyone, not just the overweight.

The thing about lean bodies is that people are mostly unaware of visceral fat compared to obese individuals(subcutaneous fat). There are equal chances for lean individuals to have high cholesterol, which could be due to various factors such as: Sedentary lifestyle, Hormonal issues,Unhealthy eating habits,Genetic predisposition,Stress.
