Checkup and tests every 20-something shouldn't ignore.

Adulting doesn’t mean waiting till something goes wrong. So here is a list of tests or examinations worth considering in your 20s

  1. Basic Blood tests for CBC, vitamin profile, thyroid and lipid profile etc.

  2. For women - pap smear, breast self + clinical examination, PCOS testing

  3. For men - hormonal panel test if frequent fatigue or libido issues, testicular examination

  4. Mental health screen (something which is still ignored) - Depression and anxiety scale, sleep pattern check.

  5. Few others like Eye checkup (for screen/microscope heavy jobs), dental checkup and skin checkups.

STD screening is also a important test and should be done by 20s.

I will take note of this, it’s a very useful list, Thank You for sharing!

Regular checkups are crucial for early diagnosis and treatment planning, rather than waiting for symptoms to appear.

  • I’d like to add angiogram test for elderly. An angiogram is a medical imaging test that uses X-rays and contrast dye to visualize blood vessels and detect blockages or abnormalities.

Preventive health is the most underrated form of selfcare and includes liver kidney function test, STD screening , blood sugar , blood pressure, bone health.

Informative!

This is a very useful list. As always said, prevention is better than cure. It is always better to do regular health checkups to ensure that our body is functioning properly. I would also like to add HbA1C to the list which measures average blood glucose level of an individual.

Thank you for sharing this. Everyone should know this. Colleges should teach about this and its importance for students.

Yes, these tests are very crucial and it’s important to get these values.

I would also like to add few more significant tests such as

  1. Fasting Blood Sugar or HbA1c
  2. Liver & Kidney function tests (especially if one is taking certain medications, supplements, or consuming alcohol)
  3. Iron and haemoglobin (especially for women)
  4. Baseline ECG
  5. Spine assessment (especially if someone is sedentary or experiencing back pain)
