Chasing a dream branch means striving toward a goal. It requires effort, sacrifice, and persistence. Many students set their hearts on a particular specialty—Cardiology, Dermatology, Pediatrics, Orthopedics—and dedicate years of preparation to secure it. Long study hours, repeated revisions, mock tests, and sacrifices in personal life. It builds resilience, discipline, and clarity of purpose.
PG entrance exams rank students, and counselling systems allocate branches based on scores, quotas, and availability. Prestige, financial prospects, and family expectations often push students toward branches like Medicine, Radiology, or Surgery. Reservation policies, seat distribution, high cost of pg seats and shifting demand-supply ratios heavily influence outcomes. Even if a student dreams of one branch, the system may steer them toward another.
The Interplay of Effort and Destiny
Perhaps the dream branch is not just about chasing or being chosen, it’s about growing into whichever branch you land on and making it your own.
Prepare with full dedication for your dream branch, but remain open to the possibility that another branch may choose you and that it could be equally fulfilling.
For medical students, PG preparation is both a chase and a calling. Either way, the journey is about becoming the best doctor you can be, because ultimately, it’s not just the branch that defines you, but how you practice within it.
