What lifestyle changes did you adopt after you got in the medical school or out of medical school, and how that impacted or helped to shape your academic and training course.
sleep.
from 7 hours its become 3 hours
As a medical student, I prioritised time management and self-care.
Regular exercise and healthy eating helped maintain my well-being.
I developed stress management techniques like meditation.
Building support networks with peers and mentors was crucial.
These habits enhanced my focus, productivity, and resilience.
They significantly shaped my academic and training success.
I adapted multitasking, time management and adaptability… And it helped a lot when it came down to managing rotations, studies and household together
My best change was starting to maintain a good diet. Hostel food was abysmal. Our college didn’t fund for a good canteen. And we lived outskirts. The little ways I took care of that by adding dry fruits, boiled eggs, lots of curd, and 1-2 fruits everyday has probably helped me maintain strength even during Covid duties.
Though i havent adopted but im trying to build some changes and stick to them. These changes mainly helps me to focus on managing time and maintaining my health. Following are few of them:
- Early to bed early to rise
- 30 mins of exercise compulsory. No mattter how busy the schedule gets
- Make some time to learn a new skill
- Be consistent in studying
- Trying to avoid junk as much as possible
I improved my time management, prioritized regular exercise, and focused on better sleep and nutrition.
Main thing is adjusted to what I got.
Time management.
Group study, which helped for viva a lot.
Communication skill improved.
Independently taking sudden actions properly at proper time.
Habbit of junk food… because of poor quality and taste of food in mess🥺.
started waking up at 2am and sleeping at 8pm

Getting into med school instantly changed everything. I became a master of time juggling and surviving on minimal sleep.
It honestly taught me extreme resilience and how to prioritize, impacting every single study session.
I am pursuing BE in Biotechnology, I realized that it wasn’t just about studying harder—it was about living smarter. I adopted simple yet powerful lifestyle changes: prioritizing sleep, maintaining regular physical activity, and practicing mindful eating.
once i got into medical school the biggest lifestyle change was learning to study consistently instead of last minute cramming in school i could pull it off but in mbbs the volume was just too much so i had to build a habit of daily reading even if it was just for an hour
i also started drinking a lot more water sleeping at least 6 hours and walking around during breaks instead of scrolling nonstop small stuff like that helped me stay sane during postings and exams
Started living life!!! The NEET prep days were lifeless , it only had hours of studying but now I’ve started enjoying the little joys even more
More self care! And it helped me to even thrive for longer periods than just survive the college
I tell him the problem solving student and time management but adapted a bad habit eating junk food and over sleep.
It is true that medical life changes the person as a whole. From their lifestyle to their perceptions of dealing with the things.
If I talk about myself, there are lot of good changes have been occur such as focussing on my health, good sleep patterns, discipline regarding the studies. But ofcourse, it’s just get reversed in the exam times.
- I guess , just focusing on your own stuff and not bothering yourself much with people around you.
- It is important to get into some physical activity for mental peace .
- Just focusing and making a goal and working to achieve it throughout your college .
