Sounds like an inguinal hernia, likely triggered by strain from heavy lifting.
The sharp groin pain and bulge are classic signs.
He probably underwent hernia repair surgery, most likely a laparoscopic inguinal hernioplasty.

The probable diagnosis is inguinal hernia.

  • Ego lifting is a classic trigger for inguinal hernia
  • razor like pain can be the hernia protruding through the inguinal canal
  • difficulty in urination or defecation can be a sign of strangulation

Likely surgery performed would be Lichtenstein tension free mesh repair which is commonly done for inguinal hernia
