Carbonated water: FIZZY MONSTER

Carbonated water is water that has been infused with carbon dioxide gas under pressure.

This produces a bubbly drink that’s also known as:

  • sparkling water
  • club soda
  • soda water
  • seltzer water
  • fizzy water

It might taste good, but it has certain harmful effects as well:-
weight gain

  • Fatty liver due to excessive fructose
  • Linked to Diabetes
  • Visceral fat accumulation
  • Leptin is resistant, so it increases fat in the body
  • Addictive

Even non sugary carbonated sodas or sparkling water can result in bloating , IBS flare ups, other gastric issues due to its acidity. The same also causes dental erosion and ultimately lead to cavities if consumed in excess.

According to me these are the harmful effects of carbonated drinks:

  1. Tooth Decay – the acid erodes the enamel and the sugar decays the cavities of the tooth. This is the most biggest disadvantage of using the drink

  2. Kidney Damage – it leans to long term kidney damage and renal failure as well

  3. Gut Disruption – Artificial sweeteners may harm gut flora and leads to collitis

  4. Heart Risk – Increases blood pressure, sugar, and bad cholesterol and increases chances for atheroma formation

  5. Gas & Bloating – Causes acidity and worsens acid reflux

  6. Cancer Risk – Possible link to some cancers via insulin resistance

  7. Cravings & Weight Gain – for me this is the biggest disadvantage. It actually disrupts hunger signals and leptin and causes obesity and increases risk of metabolic syndrome

Carbonated water may have negative effects on health, including tooth erosion due to acidity, digestive discomfort, and potential impact on bone density.

The carbonation process creates carbonic acid, which can wear away tooth enamel.

Additionally, some people may experience bloating, gas, or discomfort after consuming carbonated beverages.

However, moderate consumption is generally considered safe for most people.
