Can we really rewire our brain or is it just a buzzword?

We have all heard the phrase “rewire your brain” in self-help books, TED talks, and in various wellness circles. The science behind this phrase is called “Neuroplasticity”, which is brain’s natural ability to adapt, rewire, and form new connections even after stress, trauma, or long-standing habits. Several research literatures in the field of Neuroscience have confirmed that, our brain remains dynamic throughout life and with consistent mental effort, emotional engagement, and repetition of specific habit, we can build new neural pathways and weaken the old ones, literally changing how we think, feel, and behave.

Whether one is recovering from a stroke, or overcoming depression/anxiety, learning a new language or changing a not-so-useful habit/pattern, the brain is always reshaping itself in response to what we focus on, believe and what we are doing continuously.

  1. Do you believe one can change the habits that are deeply ingrained or certain patterns of mind through conscious efforts?

  2. What daily practices do you think can help the brain to rewire?

Absolutely, neuroplasticity is one of the most empowering discoveries in neuroscience. It shows that even deeply ingrained habits and mental patterns aren’t fixed; they’re malleable with intention, repetition, and emotional engagement. Conscious effort can reshape the brain’s wiring, whether you’re healing from trauma or simply trying to become more focused, resilient, or joyful.

Here are some daily practices that research suggests can help rewire the brain:

:man_running: 3. Physical Exercise
:speaking_head: 4. Learning a New Language or Skill

The key is consistency. Even small daily efforts done with intention can lead to profound shifts over time. Neuroplasticity doesn’t promise overnight change, but it does promise that change is possible.

@Priyadharshini Yes. We are what we do constantly.

Yes, I believe in this! I tried doing this by erasing memories I had with certain people and trust me, it really works!
