Budget 2025 in Healthcare: Not so boring insights.

This year’s Union Budget just gave pharma a little glow-up:

– Lifesaving drugs for cancer & rare diseases. “No customs duty!”

– 200 new cancer care centres coming to your nearest district.

– 10,000 new MBBS seats on your way, better start prepping already.

– ₹20,000 crore for private R&D innovation is finally getting a wallet.

But… no, your skincare isn’t tax-free yet.

More money, more research - Yes, but still waiting on more light for that everyday and easy healthcare access for crucial treatments.

What would you fix if you could write next year’s budget?

(Finance is often considered a boring topic, but things like our country’s budget need more discussion and information related to it needs to be in a way that every person irrespective of field and background can understand it. So please do share all the available info you have on budget for healthcare. Would like to learn more.)

If I could write next year’s budget, I would prioritize increased funding for education, healthcare, and climate resilience while cutting unnecessary subsidies to large corporations and outdated defense programs. I’d focus on reducing income inequality through progressive taxation and invest in affordable housing, clean energy, and modern infrastructure. The goal would be a fairer, more sustainable economy that supports working families, promotes innovation, and prepares the country for future challenges.

If it was upto me then I’d allocate a lot of funding to R & D and in getting more quality of patents. My main aim would be addressing the sustainable development goals.
