Why it matters:

–>Once-daily pill = better BP control & adherence.

BP varies in different people and the conditions

I won’t suggest sticking one pill to everyone

It can improve patient compliance also.

I think the name of this medicine is, “Widaplik”. It mostly exhibits enhanced efficacy as it can simultaneously target different mechanisms related to BP regulation. Its efficacy is proven through phase III trials in terms of reduction in systolic BP compared to dual therapies and placebo. However, fixed-dose combinations here may limit dose flexibility for individual components, and not all patients will tolerate all the three agents. So, patient selection needs to be done in a very careful manner here. Besides, pregnant women suffering from BP issues should not take this pill, as this may cause fetal toxicity.

Oh yes, I read about this recently — a single pill with three medicines for high BP. It’s got telmisartan, amlodipine, and indapamide all in one. Makes it so much easier for patients since it’s just once a day,Makes life easier since you don’t have to remember so many pills, and it seems to work really well without many side effects.

This is indeed a significant step in hypertension management. It would help in achieving the blood pressure goals more quickly compared to mono or dual therapy and also help the high-risk patients. Even so, close monitoring of patients is essential, as all three drugs may not be suitable for every one.

Definitely not for pregnant women, but it can be a great initiative for people who don’t want to take three medications at different time or have issues with medication adherence
