Anti Ragging Committee.... junior doctor's survival kit

According to The Times of India, Fifty-one ragging-related deaths were reported from several Indian universities and colleges between 2022 & 2024. Multiple students suffer from ragging by seniors but still keep quiet because of various reasons, including public shame. Ragging can cause various negative impacts on the student, including mental stress, depression, loss of self-esteem, humiliation, increased suicide risk, and isolation. It also impacts academic performance and decreases the cognitive function of the brain.

If a student faces ragging, there are certain things that the student can do:-

  1. :speaker_high_volume:Voicing it out - a student who is getting ragged or bullied should never keep quiet
  2. :speech_balloon:Talking to the authority- talking to mentors, professors, and administration can help the student to understand how to voice against ragging
  3. :hibiscus:Understanding rules and rights- understanding your student rights is important, noting the fact that there are always certain rules against bullying and ragging.

Anti ragging committee is always there to help whenever there are any situations related to ragging, just keep in mind that always “voice it out” and never keep it in the heart

:butterfly:What rules do u think can be implemented to prevent ragging?? How to make those rules effective?? :butterfly:

We should try to make students and parents sign affidavits stating they will not engage in ragging. Sometimes, I think because of the lack of anonymity (practically)students are scared to report it. That’s why the reporting system should be more anonymous so students can be laid back and at ease while reporting it.

Luckly, I didn’t felt any ragging iny college.
I think because my college have taken strict actions for my super seniors.
It’s important one who faced ragging should definitely report at the time to the anti-ragging committee.
Once strictly actions are taken others will fear to follow their path.

I saw many of the students are misusing the anti ragging portal
As we have our college’s fest in which every batch doing its work to make it happen
While junior most batch have to handle the things on ground level during fest
Because they are not doing so
We had a meeting with them before our main star night
Then we have given them instructions how to do things in better way
But they took it in wrong way
Some of them went on anti ragging portal gave names of some of our batchmates
We had face some consequences of that
But it’s very important to see both of the sides in these particular matters

I believe strict anonymous reporting systems, regular sensitization workshops, and strong action against offenders can help. Making these rules effective needs consistent enforcement, visible outcomes, and support from faculty and peers.

In my med college there was no significant ragging. We were lucky in that regard. But yes ragging can have devastating consequences and it should be dealt with very strictly. A good amount of time and resource should be spent on educating the students so that it doesn’t happen.

we were subjected to ragging in our college days.. it was not severe.. but it did create more tension within us when we were trying so hard to adapt to new surroundings within our ability. The justification was that ragging reduces the awkwardness between seniors and juniors. Or to get to know the newcomers.. none of it made any sense to me..In the later years, anti ragging cell was created and everything was strictly monitored…but still some seniors still found a way..

An Anti-Ragging Committee is crucial for ensuring a safe and respectful environment in medical institutions. For junior doctors, a survival kit would include support networks, counseling services, clear policies, and anonymous reporting mechanisms. These measures help prevent ragging and provide a secure space for juniors to focus on their profession without fear or intimidation.
