Tqsm for sharing useful information as im also suffering from anemia
It is appealing to assume that an iron shortage is generally the cause. Still, heavy periods, quiet bleeding in the stomach, or hereditary diseases can maintain iron levels constantly low, regardless of how many supplements one can take.
I’ll call this a proper guide for Hb regulation!
Yes, cyanocobalamin and folic acid are important for people with anemia
Anaemia is not always about low iron — without finding the real cause, treatment may fail. Accurate diagnosis is the first step to lasting recovery.
Anemia in women is often linked to iron deficiency, but when supplements aren’t enough, it’s a sign we need to dig deeper—looking at underlying causes like chronic blood loss, absorption issues, or other health conditions. Early diagnosis and a tailored treatment plan can make all the difference.

We all have ongoing needs for iron in our bodies. It’s used for making red blood cells, muscle tissue, hair, many enzymes, and other molecules inside the body. When the body loses these cells, like when our skin cells shed or we lose blood, some iron is lost as well.
The body loses iron with every menstrual cycle. At the same time, growing bodies have high iron needs. Often the amount of iron intake in adolescents is not enough to match the amount of iron they lose in their monthly cycles. So young women, especially those who do not have a high meat or green vegetable intake, end up becoming iron deficient.

Anemia in women is more than just a supplement issue. While iron tablets help many, some cases need more:
Mind underlying causes: Conditions like heavy periods (menorrhagia), thyroid issues, or celiac disease can lead to persistent anemia even with supplements.
Check nutrient absorption: Problems with vitamin B12, folate, or gut health can stop your body from using iron effectively.
Collaborate with your doctor: If supplements don’t show improvement in a couple of months, it’s important to investigate further and treat the root cause not just mask the symptoms.
Getting to the why behind anemia is key to lasting health, not just higher numbers.
This post clears up so many myths about anaemia. I used to think iron tablets were the only solution, but now I see how complex it really is. Just taking supplements without knowing the actual cause can be risky. Gut issues, blood loss, or even wrong timing of intake can make treatment fail. It’s a reminder that proper diagnosis matters more than quick fixes. Women deserve better awareness and support when dealing with such common but overlooked health problems.
This is very informative and improtant to keep in mind, nothing beats an actual diagnosis to shed light on udnerlying issues or concerns.
Anaemia is not only the deficiency of iron it causes blood loss during menstruation , gastritis ,gut problems , intestinal infection ,stomach ulcer and causes the disorders like thalassemia
I agree to the need of awareness in the Anemia for girls after 12 years ,while I was doing blood check-up camps specially for rural areas and govt school girls , I have found that a hunge percentage of girls , who are underweight and anemic ….but also I have found that many ‘healthy’ girls were also anemic despite having adequate weight.
Almost 70-80% of girls didn’t know what anemia is and how does it effect them.
Govt has many initiatives but they are just covering the basic level or surface level of the problem……no one talking about the problem of nutrition and health.
They would rather beat people over a language than to feed poor children.
This shows how Indians as a society is failing and leaders who are supposed to fix this is using the power of distraction to fool people.
