Why I Chose B. Pharmacy in Allopathy Over Ayurveda
After completing Class 12 as a science student, I explored career options that could offer strong growth and stability. I chose B. Pharmacy — but deciding between Allopathy and Ayurveda was the real challenge.
• I opted for Allopathic Pharmacy for several reasons:
- Wider career opportunities
- Stronger global market value
- Better international recognition
- More diverse job roles
- Well-established global industry
- Interestingly, allopathic pharmacists are also permitted to sell basic Ayurvedic medicines under certain rules, which adds flexibility.
While Ayurveda has its own value, I believe Allopathy aligns better with modern healthcare, research, and global demand — making it the right choice for me.
– What would you choose — Allopathy or Ayurveda and why?
Honestly, I’d choose allopathy not just because it’s more widely accepted around the world, but because it offers more research opportunities and room to grow in ways that really excite me. I do respect Ayurveda and what it stands for, but if I’m being real, it’s not something I’d pick as my first choice.
I’d choose allopathy because it’s based on rigorous scientific research and evidence. It’s quick, reliable for acute conditions, and offers a wide range of treatments that are proven effective through clinical trials.
If today I have to choose between Allopathy and Ayurveda as a career path in India, I will choose Allopathy, because of my personal alignment with evidence-based research and associated practices along with its clinical precision. The foundation of Allopathy is on rigorous scientific validation through standardized protocols and it is a continuosly evolving field through innovation and cutting-edge research. It is directly associated with global health outcomes and many lives have been benefitted and enhanced through it’s practice. In today’s time the demand for allopathic professionals within our country is very high as care/advice and awareness is needed in many areas like urban hospitals, telemedicine, public health, rural health missions, medical education and research etc. Currently Ayurveda is significant in the form of integrative medicine only and in wellness tourism it’s implementation is successful. Actually the future needs a colossal collaboration of both, where Ayurveda can serve as a complementary method to maintain human wellness in long-term along with critical/emergency care provided through Allopathy.
I also chose B. Pharmacy in Allopathy for similar reasons. It offers more job options, especially if we want to work abroad or in research. Allopathy feels more updated with technology and global healthcare needs. Ayurveda is valuable too, but for my goals, Allopathy seemed like the better fit.
I have chosen allopathy over Ayurvedic. Allopathy in today’s world is more demanding than Ayurveda, as it has more job opportunities in the industry and clinical sector.
Both Allopathy and Ayurveda have their strengths one rooted in modern science and global integration, the other in centuries old traditional wisdom. The right choice depends on where you see your future and how you want to contribute to healthcare. For me, Allopathy offered the growth, recognition, and flexibility I was seeking.
