We always look up to our beloved teachers for knowledge, guidance and wisdom. We all have had teachers in our lives whom we still remember fondly.
Some transformed difficult subjects into an easy-peasy journey, while others encouraged and helped us when we faced a major setback. However, the most admired and loved educators are those who are students themselves.
They never hesitate to admit what they don’t know and are always keen on learning and acquiring knowledge, thereby giving the best to their students. As Joseph Joubert famously said, 'To teach is to learn twice. Learning new skills and technologies, adapting to the changes and being an inquisitive explorer is what makes an educator truly equipped for the modern world.
This reminds me of my science teacher from school. Once, when she wasn’t able to explain a specific topic in Ray optics, she didn’t take it as a blow to her ego. Instead, she sat down with us during her lunch break to research it together.
What are your views on it? Does this remind you of a mentor in your life? Who was the teacher that showed you it was okay to say ‘I don’t know, let’s find out together’?
So true. This reminded me of my geography teacher who without wasting any time would go and look for the meaning of the words not understood. Somewhere we are all students for life.
Totally agree with this. We can’t expect teachers to have every answer like Google. It’s okay if they don’t know something. What really matters is honesty and a willingness to learn alongside students, because at the end of the day, everyone is here to learn, not to judge.
Very well said.. A teacher is always a student.. My science teacher is also like this.. Whenever we have a doubt and if he doesn’t know.. he sits with us and we find the answer together.. My biology teacher is also like this..
And in clg too..we always see our anatomy madam sitting with anatomy books.. and reading them.. even though she has been in the field of anatomy education for 18-20 years..
