Hydrophobia, that is, the fear of water, is more than a phobia; it is an indication of something serious and fatal.
Viral Hydrophobia is a complication caused mainly by Rabis Virus, which is a fatal virus, but also by other viruses like the Lagos bat virus (LAGV), Mokola virus (MOKV), and Duvenhage virus (DVV).
Coming from the family Rhabdoviridae and the genus Lyssavirus, these viruses cause fatal conditions that can’t be reversed.
Hydrophobia caused by these viruses is an indication of nervous system failure with inflammation of the brain. There are severe spasms in the throat (pharynx) when attempting to drink or swallow. These spasms can be triggered by the sight, sound, or even the thought of water.
What are your thoughts related to it? And can you name more indicators of fatal viral conditions??
Viral hydrophobia is abnormal fear to water.
Caused by furious rabies.
Symptoms of hydrophobia include throat spasms when trying to drink water.
These spasms may feel like a blockage in the throat and cause difficulty breathing. People may have intense thirst but be unable to consume any water and may try to repel it.
Indicators of a fatal viral condition can include:
-Severe fever,
-Difficulty breathing,
-Neurological issues like delirium or coma, organ failure (kidney or liver)
-Uncontrolled bleeding.
-Persistent vomiting or diarrhea,
-High white blood cell count.
Viral hydrophobia typically refers to a symptom of rabies infection, where people develop an intense fear of water (hydrophobia) due to the severe pain and spasms in the throat and laryngeal muscles when trying to swallow.
This fear is not psychological but rather a physical response to the infection.
