MBBS means “Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.”
By that logic, it should be called BMBS!!
Any explanation???

Yeah, it does seem like it should be BMBS! But MBBS actually comes from the Latin names: Medicinae Baccalaureus Baccalaureus Chirurgiae,So the abbreviation sticks to the Latin initials, not the English translation.
- Same degree—just traditional naming!

Same applies to MD degree too due to Latin origin. “Medicinae Doctor” is a Latin term = MD

Because most of terms and concepts have latin in origin and same with MBBS i.e medicine baccalureus baccalureus chirurigiae
Same applies with MCH i.e master of chirurigiae
