Throughout medical school, we learned medicine and developed clinical and patient communication skills. But when I stepped out of medical school and started exploring different careers and wanted to build a resume or portfolio, it just took me so long.
When I saw the work of others online, posting carousels, animated portfolios, and stunning presentations, it amazed me; at the same time, I felt myself lacking some essential skills to showcase my work online. Though I love creativity and draw sketches, creating a simple digital image to support my content felt like a daunting task.
I believe in this digital era, even doctors need to learn tech; many of them are already building apps out there. This was like a new realization for me, so I just began my digital journey with the basic Canva course a month ago. I’m still a beginner, but I created a creative portfolio for myself, which has fueled my digital creativity as well.
What digital skill do you think doctors need to master?
It’s a creative idea to presenting knowledge on digital platform for doctor but, is that necessary for doctor to build online portfolio - not needed that much doctor with essense of knowledge about their field that reflects through their work, not all doctors shows much interest in to come and talk on digital platform.
Good start doc. Few things like website designing,search engine optimization, how to manage your social profile to improve your practice are the few I can think of..
I think as the technologies are evolving it is important for us to keep up with these emerging technologies to accelerate our working efficiency.
Doctors must also understand how the digital area works and what initiatives they can take up or what skills can they improve to reach out and help more people.
In today’s digital era, doctors need basic skills in AI, data analytics, and patient data privacy. These help improve decision-making, ensure efficient workflows, and enhance patient outcomes. Learning digital skills also helps doctors stay updated and deliver better.
True, by learning new skills doctor can save time ,reduce errors and can make better decisions using real-time data also they can share medical information on social media using such skills.
Doctors need to be updated on new discoveries, AI, new softwares and learn the skills required. These save their time. Helps to reach big number of population. Increases patient Inflow. Helps transparency in data keeping and saving. Helps in bringing awareness of new diseases and new treatments.
In today’s era as a medical graduate, Data Analytics and AI will be more helpful in research, admin work and clinical decision support and treatment plan.
