Studying abroad is a transformative journey. It makes you independent, instills an appreciation for the value of time and money, and promotes personal growth. However, it can also be emotionally challenging to live far from family and friends. Nice checklist for students thinking of studying in Europe.

Really helpful points! I’ve been exploring options to study in Europe for postgrad, and this list highlights things I hadn’t even considered—especially around licensing and support for international students. Definitely saving this for later.

Amazing information… Very detailed and insightful :raising_hands::raising_hands::raising_hands:

I would also like to add some things from my experience as well so that it will help people choosing medicine and residency abroad:-

  1. One very important thing to check is accreditations validity… Some universities claim to have accreditations and don’t get that renewed so it is very important for validity of the degree … Especially when a person is applying for residency in USA and UK.

Number of hours gives the validation for UK residency and that was something that we were facing at our university so for that our university added another subject to complete those hours and got the certificate.
For USA, the accreditations needs to be renewed by the US body and if that fails , that will hunge the issue of documents validity. Incident from my roommate’s experience was university of barbados that got the accreditations cancelled and led to a situation where degrees got unverified.
Even for India , number months is the new rule that the university needs to complete.

  1. Apart from accreditations, also check for discrimination and racism which is a big problem that people might face… Although it is very common in multiple countries, it is important to choose a country where people are accepted as well… I have spent some time in Belarus and discovered the level of racism and discrimination was beyond tolerable.

  2. And the law, make sure that law supports students and international people too… Although not always needed but studying in country for 5-6 years , it will be helpful surely.

  3. Also when choosing the university, check for the number of students they keep in a group… Talking to seniors and graduates can help… This way we’ll be able to know the distribution of teacher’s time and opportunities… Bigger groups might hinder the individual follow-up and learning process…

  4. And finally check for the weather if that will be favourable since it is a commitment of 5-6 years …

And some points are mentioned in a here as well UNIVERSITY SELECTION TOOL KIT for moving abroad for MBBS

Good luck :four_leaf_clover::four_leaf_clover:

True that, It can be emotionally challenging but sometimes that discomfort is part of the personal growth for a better future

Choosing the right European country depends on what course you want to study or the field you want to work in.

  • Germany is really good for biotechnology and medical research given you have to learn German very well.
  • Italy is know for its affordable public colleges and strong MBBS program but it is difficult to get into it.
  • Poland, Hungary and Czech republic have good clinical exposure and some of them there are good. But some favor students of a particular nationality and don’t support all international students sometimes. From my experience, they do not disclose all the details so you don’t have complete information about the course and other things. Please make sure you have understood the study regulations and requirements
  • Latvia and Lithuania are rising in popularity for their modern technology, clinical exposure and conference opportunities. Universities in Latvia have a lot of international students so their support for international students is pretty good.

Each country has its pros so it really depends on your goals and what kind of experience you are looking for

I am glad this post was helpful for you !
