Create Effective Affirmations

Use the 5 P’s:

  • Present: “I am…”

  • Personal: Focus on yourself.

  • Positive: State what you want.

  • Powerful: Use strong words.

  • Precise: Be specific.

Examples

“I am calm and capable.”
“I know my worth.”
“I focus on what I can control.”
“I choose positivity and gratitude.”

Try it: Complete this sentence:

Today, I choose to be better than yesterday.

Every day is an oppurtunity to betterment.

It’s like lifting weights for your brain. Saying an affirmation once won’t magically fix a bad day, but doing it daily completely changes your baseline mood.

They can work—but only when they feel believable and are backed by action.

Positive affirmations can be helpful when they are realistic and combined with action. Research suggests they may improve self-esteem and stress management, but they are not a substitute for addressing deeper challenges. I think the key is using affirmations as encouragement, not as a way to ignore difficult emotions.

Affirmations can do wonders, especially when it comes to our subconscious beliefs. It encourages healthier self-talk. I think we should start practising positive affirmations early in childhood; the effect will be great as we develop stronger, good thoughts about ourselves.
