Heterochromia iridis and Heterochromia iridum
What is it ?
Heterochromia iridis - when the iris of one eye has two different colours
Looks like - blue eye with brown patch
Heterochromia iridum - when the iris of two eyes if of different colours
Looks like - one eye with blue iris & other eye with brown iris
How it occurs?
It occurs due to uneven distribution of melanin in the iris
Why it occurs?
Inherited - genetics
It is autosomal dominant & a rare condition ( approx 6 in 1000 people)
Acquired
Eye injury-blunt trauma causing damage to melanocytes
Inflammation- Fuchs Heterochromic iridocyclitis
Tumours- iris melanoma
Drugs
Prostaglandin analogs like latanoptost, bimatoprost, travoprost
If there is any change in your colour of iris , you have to see a specialist.
