The drug that refuses to leave : Marijuana

Have you wondered why some drugs disappear from the body within hours while others can be detected even after weeks?

There are several factors which include type of drugs, body fat percentages, metabolism, how much drug is being used and type of test which will be going to be performed.

One of the longest substances that stays in the body is marijuana (THC) metabolites. THC is fat soluble which means it gets stored in the body’s fat. Due to deposition in the body’s fat tissues it is released from the body very slowly unlike the water soluble drugs. People who consume sometimes THC are detectable in urine for a few days while those who consume it on daily purpose, it is detectable for more than a month.

Sometimes it can be detected more and less depending on the tests. Like if hair testing is done, the timeline changes dramatically. For 90 days, traces can be detected not only for THC but also for cannabis , cocaine, opioids and amphetamines which marks it the longest detection window amount of routine drug tests.

When it comes to drugs ‘ gone’ doesn’t always mean forgotten’.

What other tests are their which detect THC even after weeks?

Besides urine testing, blood, saliva, and especially hair analysis can detect THC depending on the timing and frequency of use. Hair testing generally has the longest detection window, making it useful for assessing long-term exposure.

Informative article, drugs like marijuana can serve as a evidence in drug abuse cases as well because of it’s type and slow metabolism. It becomes easy to detect its presence due to slow release.
