Telemedicine : Boon or Challenge

Telemedicine has revolutionized healthcare by improving accessbility and convinience. It allows patients to consult doctors remotely , saving time and travel costs , especially in rural areas. Follow ups , chronic disease monitering and minor consultations became easier and convinient.

However , telemedicine has limitations . Lack of physical examination may affect diagnosis and issues like poor internet connectivity and data privacy concerns can create challenges. In procedure based fields, in person visit remain essential.

Overall , telemedicine is a valuable support tool, but it works better when combined with traditional care .

Telemedicine has undoubtedly been a boon for accessibility, especially for follow-ups and chronic disease management where physical presence isn’t always a prerequisite for high-quality care.

However, from a clinical standpoint, the ‘challenge’ lies in the loss of subtle diagnostic cues that a screen simply can’t capture.
