Nice information
Taste buds are tiny but mighty, they help us enjoy flavors and even warn us about harmful substances. It’s fascinating how something so small can shape our entire eating experience and food memories!
It’s an important sensory organ
But the taste sensations can be altered in various conditions like
Viral infections- flu and COVID -19
Head and neck injuries
Alzheimer’s
Parkinson’s disease
Diabetes
Hypothyroidism
Liver disease
Sjogrens syndrome etc…
Taste buds renew every 10–14 days and help detect not just flavor but also harmful substances. Some people are “supertasters” with extra sensitivity, and babies have taste buds even on their cheeks.
