Snoring keeps you (or your partner) up at night?

:sleeping_face:Snoring keeps you (or your partner) up at night?

You are not alone- it is very common and usually not something serious. But the good news is- simple lifestyle changes can help to reduce or stop the problem of snoring.

What to do:

:beer_mug: Cutting down on alcohol

:no_smoking: Cutting out smoking

:flexed_biceps: Try to lose weight if you’re overweight

:person_in_bed: Avoid sleeping on your back, try sleeping on your side

Sometimes it’s caused by a condition called sleep apnea, where your airways become temporarily blocked as you sleep. This needs medical attention.

Treatment for snoring depends on the cause.

Possible cause and Treatments:

• Tongue partially blocking the back of your throat

- Mandibular advancement device: To wear in your mouth to bring your tongue forward

• Mouth being open when you’re asleep

- Vestibular shield: A chin strap to hold your mouth closed, or a device to be placed inside your mouth to be able to breathe through your nose while you sleep

• Blocked or narrow airways in your nose

- Nasal dilators: It holds your nose open while you sleep, or

Decongestants or nasal sprays: To reduce any swelling inside your nose

I don’t snore, but I’ve seen how it can disturb sleep for others. It’s good to know that small lifestyle changes can actually help. I didn’t realize snoring could be linked to sleep apnea that sounds serious. The treatment options mentioned here are really helpful and practical.
I’ll definitely share this with someone I know who struggles with snoring. Thanks for spreading awareness in such a clear way!
