Should Pharma Freebies Be Accepted by Doctors?

this is a very grey area it can be right or wrong it all depends on the integrity of the doctor. ofcourse if medicines are given thats still accepatble but other than that like car ac etc this is totally unacceptable. this has high chnaces of creating biasness. ofcourse if a doctor is true to its patient and presribe the drug that is actually the better than these kind of problems wont arrive.

Yes..This freebies inform doctor’s about latest drugs, discoveries but at the same time doctor’s should not use that without proper information..for the sake of incentive.they should value patient’s trust over them..and prescribe accordingly.

Definitely, it’s a double-edged sword . Distributing freebies and pamphlets do help healthcare workers know regarding the available pharma. options, but at the same time can definitely create a bias. At the end, it’s important that the bias does not hamper or negatively affect patients’ treatment plan.

I think accepting sample medicines and new medicines launched is ok..

But , accepting unnecessary freebies , and giving them commitment of numbers that we will write this much prescription of your company is quite wrong and bias, it should be stopped, stop treating healthcare as a buisness.

It may be a personal choice, but it shouldn’t influence clinical judgment. I’ve also seen instances where doctors use such resources to help patients who can’t afford treatment. The line is clear, patient benefit should always come first.

Doctors can accept freebies but should not compromise on patients treatment.

Accepting freebies is illigal in India. Doctors should prioritize the patient health first and also accepting pharma freebies can lead to legal charges.

I do think it creates awareness on which drug is new in the market and that’s how the pharma healthcare system works right?

they can accept the freebies but should not influence patient by prescribing the medicines of their brand.

The topic itself is controversial. These freebies can range from sample medicines and patient educational materials to much more. Sample medicines can be used to give some non affording patients and educational material can be used in clinic for patient education. Prescription bias towards particular drugs should not be there based on the freebies given. What’s your thoughts?

This topic is directly concerns with the moral ethics . If something is really helping to treat patients that should be the priority. But on the other hand, if it is just for luring and benefiting , then the question arises.
